Who are those women who kiss the stage winners of the Tour de France? French models hired by Tour sponsors as "hostesses." Even though it is forbidden for them to cavort with the riders outside of the podium area, a few riders have plucked the forbidden fruit in the past, causing one to lose her job (they are now engaged and she's expecting). The sad thing? The hostesses became corporate about 15 years ago. Before that, they were just local women from whatever village hosted the stage's finish line.
