The filmmakers of "Eyes on the Prize," the classic civil-rights documentary, are bogged down with rights issues and can't release the film on DVD or show it on television. What remains are old VHS tapes that are wearing thin, with the rare copy up for sale on eBay at $1,500. Until the filmmakers can come up with the money to renew the rights to copyrighted film from the movie, it will continue to collect dust, and perhaps the current and immediate future generation of students will go through school without having seen firehoses turned on people or black students facing taunts as they try to attend school.
