Paris Hilton got engaged. It's about time. She needs to get cracking on beating Liz Taylor's 8 (or so) marriages. I'll eat my hat if this sticks for two years. It'll be a hat made of cheese. Or chocolate. William

  2. Anonymous Anonymous: A friend just showed me this neat website full of racial joke
I cant believe the quantity an quality of humerous racial joke it contains
Heres one of the jokes i found on it:
Bob brought some friends home to his apartment one night after they had been out painting the town. One friend noticed a big brass gong in Bobs bedroom and asked about it."Thats not a gong" Bob replied "thats a talking clock. Watch this!"
Bob struck the gong and sure enough a voice on the other side of the wall screamed "Hey your jerk its 3 o'clock in the morning!"

Some of these are just plain wrong. Others, though, are hilarious. I think I like the strainer and bowling ball the best, though I haven't made my way through all of them yet. William

...and dies. According to the NYT, the joke is dead. I'm not sure that's really true, but if it is, I would mark it by Rodney Dangerfield's death. William

Possibly the funniest music video ever...circa the mid 80s, likely post 1984, after Carl had some success at the Olympics...it's Make a Human Chain performed by Carl Lewis. Check out the whole website! I particularly like the acting reel, when he plays the pimp and calls his ho over only to slap her. Hilarious. I can't seem to find footage of his legendary national anthem performance (somehow worse than Roseanne's!), but it's gotta be on this damned internet someplace... ben

I'm pretty sure I've seen this article before about athletes paying for teammates' numbers. Some great stories, from Doc Gooden's famous "He can have my wife but he can't have my number", to John Kruk giving his number to Mitch Williams for two cases of beer. The prices have escalated though, Clinton Portis apparently paid $40,000 for his number, but he hasn't paid up, which has landed him in court. Also, Jeff Feagles of the Giants has made out like a bandit the last two years by trading his number to Eli Manning and then Plaxico Burress for a Florida vacation and a new kitchen. Sounds like a good deal to me. ben

A very good story that shows why the Japanese are commendable, but a little crazy. The Japanese have expanded their recycling categories such that now they need 27-page booklets on how to sort their trash.

Lipstick goes into burnables; lipstick tubes, "after the contents have been used up," into "small metals" or plastics. Take out your tape measure before tossing a kettle: under 12 inches, it goes into small metals, but over that it goes into bulky refuse.

Socks? If only one, it is burnable; a pair goes into used cloth, though only if the socks "are not torn, and the left and right sock match." Throw neckties into used cloth, but only after they have been "washed and dried."

After Kwame Brown was dismissed from the Wizards for the remainder of the season--a rare playoff season, no less--Washington fans are happy to say bye to perhaps the worst #1 draft pick ever.

One great quote: "We'll be lucky to get Gatorade for him," [sporting goods store assistant manager Max] Mitchell hollers. "If so, it definitely won't be the new Gatorade. Maybe the old Gatorade, but no flavors." As I recall, all Gatorade has flavors... maybe he just means none of that market-tested-name stuff like Smooth Ice Blue or Ravishing Red Rocket or whatever-the-hell. William

Apparently Rock, Paper, Scissors is big in Japan for settling disputes. Beats flipping a coin, I suppose. Needless to say, the World RPS society is thrilled about this. And hey, RPS skillz got me a free t-shirt from these people outside a bookstore the other day. Rock, Paper, Scissors, the solution to all the world's toughest problems! Who needs to cut the baby in two when they could have Roch-ed for it...

The government still hasn't shaken its habit of blacking out text via Pagemaker, such that classified and unclassified are a mere mouse click apart. Hugely informative about the frequency of insurgent attacks and American countermeasures.
